New machine, new headaches
Aug 27th, 2005 by Sandra
The brand spankin’ new Dell arrived yesterday and I spent part of last evening just getting acquainted with it. It’s a whopper: 15.4″ screen (wide screen!), 1 GB RAM, mondo hard drive, and the ever-important ATI RADEON video card. Bitchin’ machine, very fast. It’s like getting into a Lamborghini after driving around in a Chevy S10….
Adding on all the various software I typically use has proven to be quite easy.
However.
I’ve been using an old version of Dreamweaver from back in the day when I was working for a software company and had Dreamweaver on my laptop for working from home. Now I have a new box and am not prepared to shell out $400 for a fresh copy of Dream. I’ve downloaded Coffee Cup’s HTML Editor and will be playing with it in the hopes that it will at least cover some of the features I need, but it has one huge drawback: it’s designed to handle only one web site at a time. In Dream, I was running about ten.
Ack.
Adobe’s GoLive isn’t any better than Dream where the price tag is concerned. Guess I’ll be figuring out a hack that will let me do what I need to do. Guess I’ll be doing that in October, after INTENDED VICTIM is turned in.
IV is going like gangbusters these days, and I’m thrilled with the new emotional impact I’m layering in. Woohoo! Some writing success!
