I got in touch with the marina harbormaster who told me that Dorothea suffered only having her aft deck roof torn off. She’s floating, and that’s the important part.
So dSO and I have been driving around Austin, heading northwest on the winding and beautiful FM 1421, stopping at a wildlife refuge to walk and take in the view at the observation post. We talked for a while about what we wanted to do after we got back home, but didn’t come up with anything definitive. We’re living literally one day at a time here; the authorities prefer us not to come back into town since we’ll have all the traffic jams and gas shortages in reverse that we had going out.
Perhaps we’ll get home on Monday, after everyone’s had a chance to clog the roads home. Replacing the roof will be much easier than replacing the boat.
