Nose to the grindstone

And in so many ways….
Hurricane Rita caused residual problems with Dorothea: she’s just now getting her new canvas bimini roof over the aft deck (at least we have a stainless steel frame we can stretch a tarp over), and the water coming onto the aft deck has been phenomenal. I spent much of yesterday fighting the torrents of water coming through a hatch directly onto my head. Even that wonder tool, duct tape, was unable to seal the hatch very well. This was a problem because my desk sits almost directly beneath that hatch, so any splatter was likely to affect my laptop.
And the rain has kept us from finishing up the coach house roof painting we’d started. Today is a clear day, however, so I’m going to spend the afternoon sanding the previous application and putting on another coat. Can you believe that one-part topside polyeurethane is $30 a quart? Unfreakinbelievable!
In addition, I’ve cobbled together some code for a Houston Bay Area chapter project so its project coordinator won’t hang me out to dry. That would have gone faster yesterday had my wireless internet connection been more stable. (When it rains, it pours, eh?)
The good news is that I heard Robin T. Popp speak on Saturday at the West Houston RWA meeting. Every time Robin gives a presentation, I have a Eureka! moment about the current WIP and suddenly understand All That Was Confusing Before. So I came away completely energized about finishing up Intended Victim and getting it straightened out, putting more focus in the right places and downplaying other things that aren’t vital.
Woohoo!
