Da Bomb

Aug 14th, 2006 by Sandra

Yep, you heard it here third — Silhouette Bombshell is closing. Its last books will be released in January 2007.

I don’t know what the plans are for my books as my editor hasn’t made it down the phone list to me yet, so we’ll see how it goes. I’ve heard from another Athena Force author that the Athena Force continuity will be released, so there’s some good news.

As for me, I do have my mainstream project to work on…as well as my technical writing resume to update.

I do hope that between us, my editor, agent, and I will figure out what to do with Intended Victim. It’s extremely heroine-focused, so rewriting it for a traditional romantic suspense line might be a bit of a bear. But, I just don’t know yet and I’m not that willing to speculate.

And my busy little brain does keep coming up with other story ideas and career paths all the while….

So let’s raise an amaretto margarita — or a mojito, or a Seattle Manhattan — to the Silhouette Bombshell line and salute the fabulous authors and fabulous stories that made that line truly unique!

I’ve mixed feelings about the line closing as I found some good stories, such as yours, and I was looking forward to some more. But then, and maybe this was me, I found some duds, either in concept or execution. I’ve noticed lately that the usual places where I found Bombshells weren’t carrying them, and I had a hard time tracking down the titles I did want to try.

I hope your projects still see publication, in some way — yours is a name I seek for good storytelling, compelling characters and intriguing storylines.

Wow! Keeping my fingers crossed that this is all settled quickly, so you aren’t left languishing in limbo for long. I agree with Mariann - “…yours is a name I seek for good storytelling, compelling characters and intriguing storylines.” Please, keep us posted.

Thanks, Mariann and Terri, for the encouragement and the good words. As I mentioned in an earlier, career-killing blog entry, I’d like to keep writing but won’t be destroyed if that’s not feasible.

At the same time, I have one more story I really, really want to tell….
