Catching up

Jan 28th, 2007 by Sandra

Wow, a lot has happened since the last time I sat down to post!

First up, we had the Bombshell Wake up in Dallas during an ice storm. Go, Bombards! Seriously, the ice storm was more scare than anything else, but it was enough to keep most folks at home. We anticipated something like 30 people and ended up with 7, but that didn’t stop us — we enjoyed reminiscing about the line, how it got started, what we love about strong heroines, and our favorite scenes from the books. FortWorthMom (a.k.a. Penni from the eHarlequin boards) was a wonderful hostess and did an enormous amount of work putting together the party favors and displays. She had every single Bombshell lined up in boxes, and it was fascinating to see the differences in the covers over time — from all purple to more single title-ish. Very cool.

It was great to finally meet Karmela Johnson, too. She’s a total blast. I envy her her energy. I just need way more sleep than she does…And I can’t wait to read her first stand-alone novel. I’ve got my fingers crossed that Rogue, her Bombshellesque adventure novel, finds a home soon!

In other writing news, I’ve discovered how to get my daily pages written without driving myself nuts or getting up at 3:00 A.M.: I drive the van to work and have my lunch there, where I can open up the back doors onto the little bayou running by the parking lot, and get 2-3 pages written on the laptop. It’s a great break from the “technical day” and I get to spend the time with myself, which used to be my main mode. I’m debating going into work an hour early so I can take an additional hour at the work day’s end and still get home for a nice evening with my main man.

More exciting news to come, so stay tuned!

Yay! I love hearing that you’re finding balance. It sounds like a very gorgeous way to get the writing done. :)

Yo Natalie, good to see you again! Yeah, that balance thing can be hairy, can’t it? Grief. Give it a few weeks and I’m sure I’ll get everything cock-eyed again….

Yo Karm! Those photos are great, except I don’t remember us taking so many…. Wish I’d remembered my camera! We’ve got to get together at the next conference we both attend. I want to hear all about your progress on your paranormal.
