Without a Trace soundtrack
Aug 5th, 2007 by Sandra
In the past I had trouble writing while listening to music, but since I’ve been listening to music at work (mainly to avoid hearing my coworkers in the next cube do their customer support thing), I’ve discovered it easier than it used to be.
So here’s the “soundtrack” for Without A Trace:
- Shake Ya Boogie, Mocean Worker
- Caramel, Suzanne Vega
- The Dark End of the Street, The Commitments soundtrack
- Rock the Casbah, The Clash
- Tickle It, Mocean Worker
- What I Like About You, The Romantics
- Sugar Water, Cibo Matto
- Forever May Not Be Long Enough, Live
- Reykavik, Mocean Worker
Yes, there’s a lot of Mocean Worker in here, but I discovered him recently and his stuff is just too cool to ignore…
I work better with a radio going in the background but I don’t know how people write with music in the background. That’s something I haven’t mastered yet.
Radio, as in with people talking? Or radio, as in, I can’t really hear anything but something resembling noise?
I’m not primarily an auditory learner, so I think I can get by with listening to music…. One of my coworkers has to read everything aloud, so I’m pretty sure listening to music would drive her nuts!
Radio as in music with DJs talking from time to time but not talk radio (can’t do talk radio). It is something I tend to tune out (although I have been known to sing along - which I’m sure my co-workers love!) but when I need to concentrate/really focus, I have to turn the radio off because then it’s distracting.
Hey, new the blogging business so doing a bit of back reading.
I almost always write to music (never the radio - commercials drive me crazy) I find that depending on the scene, music helps create the “mood” for me as I have a hard time brining emotionalism off on the page. I have war music for my battle scenes, poignant songs for poignant scenes, and even what I consider romantic music including songs that depict sweet love to unrequited love. I find songs that create mind pictures for me and then get my kids to burn those songs on CD’s for me. Works GREAT for me.
Going to have Google Mocean Worker and see what’s up with that.
